Noise 2011 Vegas 8 Ball

For your Technical question

Noise 2011 Vegas 8 Ball

Postby Jaws » Sun Jun 18, 2017 7:22 pm

Just got back from a 120 mile round trip, this baking hot day, first service since non dealer service, when throttling off bike vibrates and makes a kind of grating howl/ whine.
I'm thinking overtight belt, it's bviously been tightened as part of service, bike was running very hot in today's heat. Any ideas what deflection should be while on side stand.

Your thoughts Gents

when it cold you should be able to twist the belt by about 45 deg most dealers go by the book if so it will be on the tighter side
Safe riding John

Thanks John,

Now it's a bit cooler in Derbyshire, I've had a better look, it was a little tight and slightly misaligned, so just popped it back and got it sorted. It was exceptionally hot Sunday and M1 was no fun in that heat! See how we go!

Cheers for the reply and thanks for viewing
